After a long and challenging journey, we have reached a major milestone: Development Application (DA) approval for our dream project - a Nepalese Cultural Centre featuring a Pashupatinath Temple, Buddha Stupa, and a Community Hall with all essential amenities.This achievement belongs to all of us. It is the result of countless hours, unwavering effort, and generous support from our community members, individuals, and local businesses. The Queensland Nepalese Cultural Centre (QNCC) Executive Committee is honoured to have been acknowledged by the Nepalese Association of Queensland (NAQ) for securing the Development Application for the Nepalese Cultural Centre - a significant milestone for our community.The acknowledgement took place during NAQ's Annual General Meeting on 19 July 2026, where founding QNCC President Mr. Hari Khadka presented a certificate of recognition to current QNCC President Dr. Keshab Sharma.The event was well attended by members of the local Nepalese community, representatives of various community organisations, sporting clubs, and Nepali pathshalas. Highlights of the program included the presentation of NAQ's annual activity and financial reports, and a candle-lighting ceremony to celebrate the launch of a forthcoming publication profiling Nepalese community organisations, professionals, and businesses in Queensland. The event also recognised volunteers who have generously contributed to NAQ's Nepali Pathshala and other community initiatives.QNCC sincerely thanks NAQ for this honour and congratulates the organisation on a successful and memorable AGM. We are pleased to announce that Logan City Council has officially approved our Development Application (MCUI/44/2024) for the Place of Worship and Community Use at 283–293 Logan Reserve Road, Logan Reserve, subject to conditions! 🙏This decision was confirmed by Council on 17 June 2026, with the formal Decision Notice issued on 23 June 2026.This milestone is the result of almost two years of waiting and considerable hard work behind the scenes, along with over $200,000 invested by our community in consulting fees.💛 Congratulations to everyone who has been involved, directly or indirectly, in this journey. This achievement truly belongs to our entire local Nepalese community.📋 Please note this approval is subject to the statutory appeal period under the Planning Act 2016 and will become final once that period has passed.With the appeal period underway, we will soon be calling a community meeting to plan our next steps — including fundraising for detailed engineering design and matching funds for our government grant application.
